The Woodside series came and went in a flash. JPT riders were all stepping into new divisions this year, and the shows were great learning experiences for the second half of the season that lies ahead. In the hunter and equitation rings, Aisha Rashid piloting Tin Man were champion in the very competitive small pony hunter division. Jack McLean on JPT’s Franko was consistently placing in the 14-17 age group equitation classes. Then Paige Labuda took over the reins to place 2nd in the PCHA medal class and to qualify for the Hudson medal finals. Libby Luhr on Black Ty and Olivia Young on Ken also put in very strong rounds.Meanwhile, in the jumper arena, Sophie Amundson and JPT’s Fiesta were putting in fast and clear rounds in the jumper division, giving the pros a run for their money. Jack and Legato also made their debut in the 1.00m class, consistently placing in the top three.More important than the prizes is the learning experience and the enjoyment of the sport. JPT is proud that its riders achieved goals that were set during the winter months and learning new skills—as well as realizing the ones that need to be further developed at home. Shows are also a chance for team building and sportsmanship.

Next up, the Santa Barbara National horse show before taking a break for more horsemanship knowledge at JPT’s Summer Horsemanship Camp. Then it’s up to Sonoma Horse Park and before we know it, it’ll be time for the Menlo Charity horse show and various medal finals. We hope to see you at the barn and at the shows!
